ROCHESTER, N.Y. May 14, 2019 — The Public Relations Society of America has recognized two eye health programs spearheaded by McDougall Communications with 2019 Bronze Anvil honors, designating them as among the world’s best public relations initiatives of the past year.
CooperVision, the global contact lens leader, received a Bronze Anvil Award in the Research / Evaluation category for Eye Opening Insights Spark Optometrists to Act. The work brought together data and insights from eye care professionals and consumers in the United States, Europe and Asia surrounding 1 day silicone hydrogel contact lenses, placing a spotlight on misperceptions and opportunities for better patient experiences through media outreach, publication of a custom report, and professional education events.
The Centre for Ocular Research and Education (CORE), the preeminent center for advanced biosciences, clinical research and education relating to the eye, received a Bronze Anvil Award of Commendation in the New Digital Platform category for CORE Knowledge: The Ultimate Eye Science Game. Premiering at ARVO 2018, this addictive tablet-based quiz served up more than 14,600 questions to optometry and ophthalmology attendees, representing approximately 1,100 games played on site. It was co-developed with Rochester-based Workinman Interactive.
In all, there were only 29 Bronze Anvil winners and 54 Award of Commendation winners across 33 categories, selected from more than 500 nominations. Other honorees included Cirque du Soleil, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Genentech, the NCAA, and Royal Caribbean.
“It’s hard to express how much we enjoy collaborating with CooperVision and CORE, working alongside their in-house marketing and clinical teams on a range of programs around the world,” said Mike McDougall, APR, Fellow PRSA, president of McDougall Communications. “The 2019 Bronze Anvil honors also speak to the innovation and creativity happening within eye care. It’s a dynamic, fast-paced industry that rewards organizations who can skillfully balance the ever-evolving needs of patients with those of professionals such as eye doctors and researchers—something both CooperVision and CORE do every day.”
McDougall Communications (mcdougallpr.com), founded in 2011, is focused on helping clients across the Americas, Europe and Asia-Pacific meet their business objectives through a range of communications services, including strategic planning, media and influencer relations, reputation and crisis counsel, and social media management. For more than 45 years, Bronze Anvils have recognized the best of the best in public relations tactics that contribute to the success of overall programs or campaigns. Nominations are evaluated by senior professionals drawn from corporate, non-profit, military and agency communications teams, as well as from academia.
