OPEN POSITIONS

  • McDougall Communications is searching for a senior-level communications professional to become part of our special culture that’s taken shape over the past decade. Since day one, our teammates have been afforded the flexibility to balance their personal lives with the pressures inherent in the public relations profession. In short, we’ve always treated each other as adults—i.e., everyone is accountable to themselves and one another, with no room for micromanaging or politics. We’re as much family as we are colleagues.

If that culture aligns with your working style, here’s the sweetener. The regional, national, and global work you’ll be undertaking changes lives. We help healthcare professionals adopt new standards of care and innovative medical devices, raise the visibility of educators and students, and counsel community institutions on ways to navigate unexpected developments and seize growth opportunities.

Since you’ve done a bit of digging, we don’t need to go into detail about the strategic programs we’re known for developing, which produce extraordinary results and are regularly honored among the most inventive in the PR field. The spark we need to build upon that record requires someone who can think strategically, plan precisely, and execute definitively while taking smart risks to rise above the noise.

Public relations experience is required, with stellar writing and verbal communications skills. Candidates should be comfortable with obtaining and analyzing data for decision making without their creativity being compromised by it. They’ll have considerable background in forming and cultivating genuine relationships with media, partners, and others who influence perceptions. Business-to-business experience in healthcare, higher education, issues management, and/or banking is ideal.

Supervisory experience is also required, illustrating the capacity to help colleagues progress in their skills and careers.

Most candidates who match these requirements will have between 12 to 20 years of relevant experience.

McDougall Communications offers a generous benefits package including employer-subsidized medical and dental coverage, a 401(k) retirement plan with company matching, paid vacation, PRSA membership, professional development contributions and more.

Salary is commensurate with experience, with base compensation in the $70,000 - $100,000 range, plus performance-based bonus eligibility. The position is based in our Rochester, N.Y. office, with an on-site presence needed four days per week. Occasional domestic travel is anticipated.
