McDougall Communications-Led PR Program Named Best in the U.S.

NEW YORK, May 10, 2024—For the fourth consecutive year, McDougall Communications has been honored as developing one of the most creative and effective public relations programs in the United States. It’s work on behalf of the Contact Lens Institute, which promotes sector growth and healthy patient habits, received three 2024 Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Anvil Awards during a gala in Manhattan last evening.

The Contact Lens Institute’s See Tomorrow initiative produced two research studies—one focused on “dual wear” patients who use both glasses and contact lenses, and the other centered on fostering positive contact lens cultures in eye doctors’ offices. Through a combination of in-depth reports, industry partnerships, and trade media collaboration, the program increased market volumes, boosted eye care professionals’ confidence, and created momentum for practice and patient success.

PRSA named the effort as the nation’s best strategic program of the year in the Integrated Communications (Business-to-Business) and Content Marketing (Business-to-Business) categories, bestowing a Silver Anvil Award for both—the “Oscar” of the public relations field. The underlying research was recognized in the Data Insights tactical category with a Bronze Anvil Award of Commendation.

Other honorees included 7-Eleven, Aflac, Cleveland Clinic, Delta Airlines, GSK, Hostess Brands, the Library of Congress, Lockheed Martin, McDonald’s, PhRMA, Salk institute, Sanofi, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and the V Foundation for Cancer Research.

Since its founding in 2011, McDougall Communications has received another 15 Anvil honors for multiple clients, industries, and program types, including crisis communications, special events and observances, research, and digital platform innovation.

“We’re fortunate to partner with clients who embrace non-traditional approaches and outcomes-focused campaigns—important factors when trying to break through the noise and create behavioral change. It’s a privilege to have the Contact Lens Institute program recognized alongside so many innovative teams and brands,” said Mike McDougall, APR, Fellow PRSA, FAAO, president of McDougall Communications.

Since 1944, the Silver Anvil Awards have been presented to organizations that successfully address challenging issues with exemplary professional skill, creativity, and resourcefulness. They represent the benchmark of exceptional performance, with a stringent peer judging process and candidates from around the world.
